BUSINESS: MULTICHOICE LOSES 3.7M SUBSCRIBERS

MultiChoice, Africa's leading pay TV provider, has reported a shocking decline in subscribers, dropping from over 23 million to 19.3 million in less than two years.
This loss is attributed to a difficult economic climate, where rising costs of living have forced many households to cut entertainment expenses.
High inflation and changing consumer habits towards gaming and social media are further straining the business. Despite a slight increase in revenue, overall profits plummeted from R1.5-billion to just R7-million.
Additionally, the company is facing a takeover bid from Canal+, which has been delayed due to regulatory challenges. As MultiChoice navigates these tough times.
