BREAKING... APC Wins Edo 2024 Governorship Election As PDP Heads For Tribunal

Baring any last minute change, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will formally announce the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, as the winner of the governorship election conducted on Saturday in Edo state, THE BEAGLE NEWS can authouritatively report.

Okpebholo is said to have won the Saturday's poll in 13 of the 18 local government areas of Edo state while his closest rival and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Asue Ighodalo, won the remaining five.

The APC candidate won the entire six council areas in Edo North and all the five council in Edo Central senatorial district.

While the PDP emerged victorious in five of the local government areas in Edo South, the APC candidate claimed the other two.

THE BEAGLE NEWS correspondent at the collation centre reports that the APC candidate won in Sen. Adams Oshiomhole strong hold of Owan East, Owan West, Etsako West, Etsako East, Etsako Central, and Akoko-Edo in the North.

The Edo state opposition party also won in Esan West, Esan Central, Igueben, Esan North East and Esan South East which is the senatorial district of the APC and the PDP candidates.

Similarly, the APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, could only claim victory in his federal constituency of Ovia North East and Ovia South West.

On the other hand, the immediate past Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and the PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, Osarodion Ogie, who also hails from the South won the remaining councils of Oredo, Ikpoba Okha, Egor, Orhionmwon, and Uhunmwomde.

Meanwhile, reports have emerged that PDP is set o approach the Election Petition Tribunal alleging massive irregularities and outright collaboration with INEC officials and security agencies against PDP.

At the wee hours of today, Governor Obaseki was escorted out of the collation centre by security agents.
