The State House of Assembly has, yesterday, confirmed Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, Pastor Ekpeyong Cobham, Barr. Ijom Ukam and eight others as second batch of successfully screened commissioner nominees and potential members of the Governor Bassey Otu-led State Executive Council.

Recall that Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, had earlier announced that the confirmation would be done in three batches to ensure an unmitigated and conscientious process.

Presenting the House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petitions, and Conflict Resolution report at the plenary session, its Chairman, Rt. Hon. Davies Etta stated that the confirmed nominees had met all constitutional requirements, after rigorous scrutiny.

After an exhaustive question and answer session with nominees to further lend credence to their capabilities, the lawmakers expressed satisfaction at the integrity and qualification of the confirmed nominees, and commended Governor Otu for his sagacious selection, which they hoped, will bring the needed support to the present administration.

Others confirmed alongside include Dr. Beatrice Igwe, Prince Eka William, Mr. Mike Odere, Hon. Patrick Egbede, Barr. Mensah Bassey, Hon. Edama Erom, Bishop Margaret Ene Ita, and Chief Francis Ekpeyong.

However, the nomination of Mrs. Gladys Eutemdala from Yakurr local government area was rejected, with the Committee Chairman on Judiciary, Rt. Hon. Davis Etta, citing avalanche of petitions from concerned Yakurr indigenes as reason for the rejection.

Speaking to newsmen after the exercise, one of the confirmed nominees, Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, thanked the Speaker Elvert Ayambem-led House of Assembly for its thoroughness and attention to necessary details, describing the Assembly scrutiny as "a worthwhile baptism of fire."

The astute medical professional expressed their appreciation to Governor Otu for finding him worthy to serve the State under his administration, while pledging to repay the governor's confidence in him by assiduously assisting the State Executive Council in achieving its blueprints.
