He thus becomes the second lawmaker from South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria to superintendent over the Legislative Arms of Government in the country, forty-four years after Late Senator Joseph Wayas held sway in the same position.

The Beagle News went to town in Akpabio's home state of Akwa Ibom to sample the reactions of elated Akwa Ibomites over the historic feat.

Speaking, Endurance Bassey from Uruan local government, Akwa Ibom said:

“Akpabio's emergence as President of 10th Nigeria Senate is a dream come true for Akwa Ibom State and the entire South-South geopolitical zone of federal republic of Nigeria”

Bassey expressed the belief that the legislature would be strengthened as expected to play its role to unify the system to revamp the Nigeria economy to the benefit of All.

Also speaking, Mfonobong Ekanem from Ikot Abasi local government commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno for aligning with the Senate President, Sen Godswill Akpabio and expressed the hope that the Senate President will bring more development to the state.

Mbuotidem Udofia, from Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom said

“the emergence of Sen Godswill Akpabio as the 10th National Assembly is the Will of God Considering that Sen Godswill Akpabio contested in 2019 but lost the seat to his brother Sen Chris Ekpenyong of the People Democratic Party PDP, which if he had won probably, he won't have been the Senate President today”

He urged the Senate President that while discharging his responsibilities to the immediate constituency, the Akwa Ibom Northwest Senatorial District, you will use your position to advance the cause of Akwa Ibom State at all times.
