AKWA IBOM: Savannah Energy Intensifies Environmental Awareness, Career Development In Secondary Schools

From Imoh Essien

Savannah Energy has embarked on a statewide Career awareness tour of secondary schools.

The tour is to foster a culture of environmental stewardship and career awareness among secondary school students.

The initiative, which commenced in June, has seen the inauguration of Environmental Awareness Clubs and Career Awareness talks in six schools so far.

The team has visited two schools in the state  including Community Secondary Commercial School, Ikot Ebiere, Onna Local Government Area, and Girls High School, Ikot Ibiok, Eket local government area.

The events were graced by representatives from Savannah Energy, and school administrators.

During the inauguration ceremonies, students were sensitised on the importance of environmental conservation, sustainable practices, and career development.

Speaking at the event, Mr Aniekeme Finbarr, Special Assistant to the State Governor on social Reorientation, who is collaborating with Savannah Energy, said the Environmental Awareness Clubs are designed to serve as a platform for students to engage in eco-friendly activities, be aware of energy Industry activities in their communities and learn sustainable practices.

He said the Career Awareness talks, on the other hand, is aimed at inspiring students to explore various career paths, set academic goals, and develop skills relevant to the modern workforce.

Resource persons from various fields shared their experiences and offered guidance to the students.

The tour is expected to continue in the coming days, with more schools scheduled to benefit from the program.

This initiative aligns with the Akwa Ibom State Government's commitment to prioritizing education, youth development, and environmental sustainability
