A’Ibom HoS Charges Directors on Improved Capacity

Akwa Ibom State Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, has enjoined directors in the state employ to make good use of the leadership training to further improve their capacities for effective public service delivery.
The office of the HoS recently organised a workshop in collaboration with the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Lagos on Leadership and Good Governance for directors.
The workshop was held at Ibom LED Centre, Ibom E-Library, IBB Way, Uyo.
Addressing the participants, the HoS, Elder Effiong Essien, underscored the premium the governor places on human capacity building especially, in the State Public Service, admonishing them to justify government’s huge investment in the training by exhibiting high sense of seriousness and warned against lateness and laxity.
He explained the need for the state government’s need-tailored training for its workforce especially for the Directors, saying, the “training is very important to the Directors as they have some years to fill-in the skills gained as well as upscaling it to their colleagues in various lines of duty.”
Describing the workshop as a veritable training partnership through his office, the HoS assured of its sustenance for the benefit of the workers and the Public Service.
Mr. Eni Aiyejuni, a resource person, who spoke on behalf of ASCON, thanked the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for the trust reposed in them to train public servants in Akwa Ibom State and promised to offer quality training.
It will be recalled that the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno had on Monday, 5th day of August, while declaring the first phase of the training open for Permanent Secretaries, emphasized the important of employing teamwork and innovation if effective and optimal service delivery was to be achieved in public service.
According to him, “the training was his administration’s effort to strengthen the state’s public service which was the reason he mounts the ongoing training as part of effort to retool the state workforce for optimal productivity.
