The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is set to carryout a 10 day pro-government solidarity rally in Calabar.

The state chairman of the party Barr. Alphonsus Ogar revealed while briefing newsmen at the party secretariat in Calabar that having accessed the initiatives of the present administration both at the federal and state level, the party has decide to commend them hence the solidarity rally.

Ogar maintained that the May 29 2023 bold pronouncements of the president was aimed at reseting the country on the right part of development which Nigeria is undergoing the process "Because of this bold moves, payment of subsidy is gone while the country is gaining more in terms of revenue, today workers enjoy a monthly minimum wage of N70,000, recently in the state the governor has approved N10 billion for the payment of backlog of gratuities, isn't that enough reason to applaud them? It is time to have a real assessment of what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor Bassey Otu and and give them their due accolades?

"We are not bereft of the hardship in the land as we are also experiencing it but I can tell you that this is a process aimed at resetting the country on the right part and we are almost at Uhuru“

Ogar said On the planned END BAD GOVERNANCE protest by some Nigerians, the chairman noted that based on security reports received, it would have been better the protest is shelved so we don't a repetition of the 2020 experience.

"We want to let you know that though protest is guaranteed as a constitutional right of every citizen under section 38, 39 and 40 of the constitution which is the right to associate and to assemble, section 45 also states that if that protest will threaten public peace it should be curtailed.

"The police have said there are ready to provide security to protect protesters and anyone who wants to protest must get police clearance and apply for security cover before embarking on the protest.

"As a party we have complied with the order of the FG and have obtained a permission from the Nigerian police. Our route is the carnival route. It will be a peaceful rally to to sing praises to God for giving us President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu who are on a mission to turn things around for good.

"The rally will terminate at the eleven eleven roundabout where we will occupy for this 10 days" Eba added.

The chairman however sued for dialogue with the government rather than resulting to protest which might escalate beyond our control.

"Won't it be better we continue to dialogue so that you see the plans and access the palliatives being put in by the president so that you can give your advice so it be treated as a family matter?

"This is the time for all of us to collectively protect the democracy which all of you worked so hard to protect.
