Impeachment: Hundreds of Ogoja Youths Match for Vice Chairman, Vows to Sink With Him

The battle for control of Ogoja Council has continued to gather momentum as hundreds of youths trooped out to welcome the embattled Vice Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Idi Yakubu.

Yakubu has been having a running battle with some top party leaders, the council chairman, Hon. Chris Agbe, and the Ogoja Legislative Council over moves to impeach the him on trumped up allegations of gross misconduct.

In the impeachment notice signed by Hon. Elizabeth Mbim, Ph Dr, Leader, Ogoja Legislative Council, and Hon. Sunny Achang, Councilor, Mbube East I, Deputy Leader, they among others accused the Vice Chairman of frequent absence from duty post without permission from his boss; abandonment of duty to attend to personal business, arrogance and lack of respect for superior authorities, negligence of duty and failure to perform assigned tasks.

Others are disregard for constituted authorities and rules of engagement as well as breach of oath of secrecy. 

While the processes of impeachment are on, the Vice Chairman was said to have travelled to Abuja to consult with of his political friends on the ordeals.

And on his return two days ago from Abuja, hundreds of Ogoja youths trooped out and have him a rousing welcome, promising to stand with him during his trials period.

Speaking to the crowd, Yakubu commended them for their courage and support, saying "I am around to just inform you that they said there is no more space for us at APC. So if I defect to another party, it was because we were no longer wanted in APC."

Some of the youths, who spoke with THE BEAGLE NEWS vowed to follow and support Vice Chairman to wherever he wants to pitch his tent, adding that they have not benefitted from APC even when they fought for the party.

One of the youths, who simply identified himself as Austine Odey, said: "We don't know why our party does not want better and strong politicians around.. They want people they can manipulate about. Vice Chairman Yakubu has done nothing to warrant his impeachment.

"We shall stand with him because he is our god-father and a caring VC who will sacrifice his little to keep the party. So, we will follow him to any party because people make party and support base. We know they will come for him but we are prepared to die with him."
