HOWAD '99 Set Donate Whiteboards to Alma Mater in Calabar

Members of the Hope Waddell Old Students Association (HWOSA), Class of 1999, have donated whiteboards to their alma mater, Hope Waddell Training Institution in Calabar, to support teaching and learning in the school.

Speaking during the presentation, the association’s president, Mr. Charles Ita, said the gesture was intended to give back to the institution that played a pivotal role in shaping their academic and personal lives.

“On behalf of Hope Waddell Old Students Association (HWOSA), class of 1999 we are pleased to present these eight white boards these eight whiteboards to aid teaching and learning for the younger students coming up,” he said.

Mr. Ita added that while the donation may appear modest, the association remains committed to supporting the school in greater ways in the future. “It is always good to give back to your alma mater. We ask that you accept this as a token from the Class of 1999,” he said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Principal, Mr. Okon Onoyom Ita, JP, expressed appreciation to the alumni for the donation. He described the gesture as timely, noting that the boards would enhance the learning environment for students.

“I have been waiting for this opportunity since I was informed last year that you would be coming. On behalf of the school, I salute you and thank you for this special gift. It will go a long way in supporting the school’s academic activities,” the principal said. He also prayed for continued success for the members of the association and encouraged them to sustain their support for the institution.

Speaking as well, one of the alumni, Engr. Onun-Mutai Isaac Udoe, advised students to take proper care of the newly installed boards, urging them to handle the facilities as they would their personal writing materials.

Similarly, the Vice Principal (Academic), Mrs. Julie Udohking, expressed gratitude to the alumni for remembering the school and contributing to its development.

The event was witnessed by Mr. Udoaka Solomon, Maths and Further Maths Teacher, Mr. Francis Abip Emeretus, president of the class set, and members of the set including Apostle John Uwem Etefia, Mr. Effiom Bassey Effiom, Mr. Mbukpa Ani Oku, among others.
