Homeland Security Agency Nabs Suspected Thief, Recovers Chicken Feed, Other Items`

The Homeland Safety and Security Agency, HSSA, Akpabuyo Branch, has arrested a suspected thief and recovered several stolen items following intelligence led operations in Akpabuyo, Cross River State.

The suspect, Freedom Effiong Esenam, from Essien Udim LGA of Akwa Ibom State, resident at Esuk Ekpo Eyo in Akpabuyo, was apprehended by HSSA operatives after investigations.

Items recovered include sixteen bags of 25kg chicken feed. During interrogation, Esenam reportedly confessed to the theft and also admitted to stealing an electrical sterilizer, a wheelbarrow, and a gas cylinder.

Speaking after the arrest, HSSA Akpabuyo Commander, Comrade Eyo Okon Effiong, said timely public information remains key to fighting crime. He assured residents of the agency’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

“Homeland Safety and Security Agency has come to stay in Akpabuyo. We are determined to rid our communities of criminal elements so residents can go about their lawful activities without fear. Those involved in crime should desist or face the full weight of the law,” Effiong told a crowd at the scene.

The Director General of HSSA, Cross River South, Hon. Chief Mike Nsan, commended the Akpabuyo command for its professionalism. He urged residents to stay vigilant and share credible information with security agencies.

“Security is a collective responsibility. We must all support efforts to restore Cross River as a peaceful and thriving tourism destination, free from crime,” Nsan said.

The suspect and recovered items have been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
