Group Rates Abang High on Performance, Promises Mass Mobilisation

Political monitoring group, Watchdog for Good Governance (WFGG) has described the member representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, Hon. Victor Abang Bisong, Ph.D, as the best performing member from the state in the Green Chamber.
Besides, the group has vowed to go all out and mobilise massively for the re-election of Dr Abang, saying "one good turn deserves another."
Spokesman of the group, Comrade Justine Agbor, said the assessment was based on Abang’s 2026 scorecard and verified reports of constituency projects and interventions across the 22 wards of Ikom and Boki Local Government Areas.
According Agbor, the lawmaker’s interventions cover education, roads, healthcare, water supply, electricity, telecommunications, agriculture, sports and human capital development.
In education, the group cited the renovation of more than 12 primary schools and construction of classroom blocks at Etikpe, Alesi, Bekpor Irruan, Lutheran Primary School in Panya and Ubong. It also listed the construction and equipping of a secondary school facility at Etikpe, Ikom.
The group said Abang facilitated several road projects, including the Kakwagom, Oki, Borum and Njua Kaku corridor, Katchuan, Bitia, Kakwagom, Nkayang and Kakubok Irruan Road, Ntamante, Batang and Agba Road, as well as interventions on the Biajua, Danare, Ekumba Hill, Arongba, Osokom Farm, Abo Emeh and Agbokim, Mgbabor roads.
It also credited the lawmaker with advocating the Ikom, Obudu Federal Highway.
In telecommunications, the group said about 32 to 35 rural communities had been reconnected to network services, with at least 25 independently verified.
Healthcare interventions, according to the group, include medical equipment for Abo Ebam Health Centre, medical outreach in Nde, rehabilitation of boreholes and health facilities, solar power support and advocacy for a Federal Medical Centre in Boki and completion of the NDDC Specialist Hospital in Ikom.
Other interventions cited include borehole rehabilitation and solar powered water schemes, installation of solar streetlights and transformers, agricultural inputs for farmers, sports facilities, markets, town halls and tourism infrastructure.
The group further claimed that more than 4,000 constituents had benefited from various human capital interventions, including grants, educational support, skills training, disability empowerment, women and youth programmes and motorcycle distribution.
On legislation, Watchdog for Good Governance said Abang had sponsored or pursued bills seeking the establishment of a Federal College of Agriculture and Forestry in Okundi, Federal Medical Centre in Boki, Federal College of Education (Technical) in Ikom and an Okwangwo National Park Unit.
The group also cited motions concerning the Nigeria Cameroon boundary, alleged incursions into Okwa, elephant attacks in eastern Boki, dredging of the Calabar Seaport and the Odukpani Junction, Ikot Ekpene Road.
Agbor said the group’s assessment showed a sustained focus on constituency development, noting that several of the projects had appeared in successive federal budgets and received stakeholder confirmation on the ground.
He, however, said the group has concluded arrangements to massively mobilise voters to ensure total victory for Abang, saying second term is not negotiable.
