GRASSROOTS: UGEP People Assmebly Says Peace, Unity Panacea To Development Of Modern Community

Peace and Unity has been described as panacea to development of the modern society.
This assertion was made by the Ugep People’s Consultative Assembly (UPCA) during their 2025 General Assembly/Annual Town Hall meeting held at Obol Ubi Ujong Inah Conference Centre Ugep with the theme “Priority of Unity in Ugep”.
Delivering his keynote address, the Convener and the President of the Association, Professor Oka Martin Obono, said the importance of peace and unity in the modern society cannot be over-emphasized, stressing that the aim and objective of the Association is to bring all sons and daughters of Ugep together so as to foster the new course and development which he described as a bedrock of development.
In his remark, the Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, further commended the organizers of the Assembly and charged all sons and daughters of Ugep to unite together for the development of Ugep in particular and Yakurr in general.
Also in his remark, the Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, Hon. Obol Yibala Igri Inyang, commended Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng for sustaining peace in Yakurr which according to him is a bedrock for development to Ugep in particular and Yakurr in general.
The Chairman who was represented by the Supervisor for Health, Dr. Ubi Patrick Ubi (KSM) JP, said his government will partner with all the security agencies to continue in maintaining peace in Ugep in particular and Yakurr in general adding that he will also support the association in achieving their lovely agenda.
In their various sub-mission, Obol Peter Ofem Ubi and Barrister Queency Patrick commended the Convener and President of the Association for his vision and charged the Ugep both at home and diaspora to join hands with the Association and unite together for the overall development of Ugep people and shun all sought of negative vices which is against the development.
The high point of the well-attended assembly was a presentations from the Youth, Women groups, Traditional Rulers, Civil Society, visit to Ugep General Hospital and Community Secondary School, Ugep where some medical bills were settled.
