The spate of adoption has continued to gather momentum as President Bola Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu and Senator Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe has been adopted by the entire 54 councilors in Cross River north senatorial district.

Their adoption, which will boost their electoral chances ahead of 2027, was carried out in Ogoja during a visit of the councilors to Senator representing the district in the National Assembly (NASS).

According to the councilors, their adoption was sequel to their performances as president, governor, and senator, respectively.

Moving the motion, Lawrence Ishibi of Angiaba/Begiaka ward of Obudu local government area, particularly commended Agom-Jarigbe for his effective representation.

While describing him as a "worthy representation," Ishibi said Agom-Jarigbe's performance was visible to all in the senatorial district.

"You have indeed served us well. Every street of Cross River North has a footprint of your projects. When we don't see you, we see your signature projects.

"We went you to continue in that manner. That is why we are adopting you for reelection," he stated.

In a similar manner, Acha Oko of Otukpuru ward in Bekwarra local government, who seconded the motion, described Agom-Jarigbe as a worthy son of the senatorial district.

Ayade first got elected into the NASS to represent Cross River North's senatorial district in 2011 while he was elected governor in 2015, where he served to terms.

His bid to return to the Senate in 2023 was not successful as Agom-Jarigbe won the election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, Agom-Jarigbe defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the protracted crisis in the PDP.
