G12 Akwa Ibom South Endorses Tinubu, Akpabio, Gov. Eno, Ekong Sampson for Second Term
By Imoh ESSIEN (Uyo)
The G12 Akwa Ibom South, a prominent socio-political grassroots organization, has officially passed a vote of confidence and endorsed a "Second Term Mandate" for the nation’s top leaders and the representative of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson.
At a high-level summit held on March 18th, 2026, the group, led by International President, Comrade Oto-obong Etefia, moved a formal motion to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno, and Senator Ekong Sampson for their respective re-election bids in 2027.
The Case for Ranking Senators;
Addressing the massive gathering of G12 members across the 12 Local Government Areas of the district, Comrade Etefia emphasized that Akwa Ibom State deserves "ranking Senators" to maximize influence and resource attraction at the National Assembly.
"We must dismiss the notion of 'first-term-only' bids," Etefia stated. "To truly accomplish the mandate given to our representatives, we must allow them the continuity required to become ranking members. Senator Ekong Sampson has already displayed superlative performance as a first-timer; returning him ensures Akwa Ibom retains a seat of power and experience."
Lauding Performance and Human Capital Development,
The leadership of G12 expressed profound satisfaction with Senator Sampson’s "myth-breaking" achievements, citing:
Key Infrastructural Projects:Tangible developments across the senatorial district.
Sustainable Empowerment: Grassroots programs that provide long-term self-sufficiency.
Human Capital Development: Investment in the skills and education of the youth.
Stakeholders Push Back Against Dissent:
During the summit, stakeholders from the Eket Senatorial District took the opportunity to address recent political friction. The group frowned upon attempts by "a few misplaced individuals" to alter previous endorsements or cause disrespect within the district's political fold.
Prominent political stalwarts and bigwigs at the event reaffirmed their total support, including:
Hon. Michael Essang, Chairman of the Summit,
Hon. Nkereuwem James, Senior Legislative Aide to the Senator, and
Prince Iboro Imose Convener of the Akwa Ibom State Democratic Coalition.
A Unified Front for 2027:
The event concluded with a symbolic declaration of total support for the "Four Big Stars"—Tinubu, Akpabio, Eno, and Sampson. The G12 leadership maintained that this unified support across the 12 LGAs is essential for the continued stability and progress of Akwa Ibom South and Nigeria at large.
