FG Renames Armed Forces Remembrance Day
The Federal Government of Nigeria has renamed January 15 as Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, in honour of living personnels and acknowledging fallen heroes who safeguarded the nation's territorial integrity and citizens' lives.
The day which was previously known as Armed Forces Remembrance Day was changed to reflect its dual essence of celebrating both the living and the death.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has called on media outlets to adopt the new name in their reportage, appreciating their support in fighting insecurity.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu has charged troops to remain resolute in combating bandits and terrorists, restoring public confidence and enhancing security.
