FG Approves N3bn Each For Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Edo, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, 30 Other States To Tackle Flooding

The Federal Government has approved N3billion each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to tackle flooding.
The N3bn was approved through the National Economic Council (NEC),
NEMA’s Head of Media, Manzo Ezekiel, who disclosed this in a statement made at the weekend in Abuja, said the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, chaired the NEC meeting.
According to the approved disbursements, each of the 36 states will get N3 billion and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) while N1.5billion each goes to the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Federal Ministry of Environment, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.
Furthermore, N10 billion will go to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)
The Director General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, commended the Vice President and members of the council for the timely and strategic intervention.
She said: "NEMA reaffirms its commitment to the efficient, transparent, and accountable utilisation of the allocated funds, in line with the agency’s mandate to safeguard lives and livelihoods during emergencies.
"We assure that NEMA would continue to work closely with state governments, relevant ministries, agencies and partners to ensure a well-coordinated, timely, and people-centered flood response across the nation."
