Fed. Govt. Pledges Support for SSDC Growth Drive

The Federal Government has pledged sustained support for the South South Development Commission to enable it fulfil its mission of driving socio economic growth and transformation across the South South region.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, gave the assurance in Abuja when the Managing Director of the Commission, Ms Usoro Akpabio, visited him to strengthen collaboration in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Senator Akume lauded Ms Akpabio for the commitment and clear direction she has brought to the Commission, noting that her efforts reflect a strong resolve to change the development outlook of the region. He stressed that the Federal Government is determined to ensure the South South experiences inclusive and sustainable development.
He further reaffirmed the Federal Government’s readiness to support the Commission’s programmes in tandem with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasising that the administration is committed to equitable development across all regions of the country.
Responding, Ms Akpabio expressed appreciation for the assurances and emphasised the Commission’s commitment to delivering measurable results that will improve livelihoods across the South South. She also restated the SSDC’s readiness to work with federal and state institutions to unlock the region’s development potential.
The talks touched on strategic priorities including poverty reduction, environmental remediation, flood and erosion control, and targeted youth empowerment initiatives focused on ecological sustainability and inclusive growth.
Both parties also highlighted the need for stronger inter governmental collaboration to enhance the impact of Presidential Intervention Initiatives across the South South.
