Farouk Ahmed Steps Down as NMDPRA Chief After Presidential Meeting

Farouk Ahmed has stepped down from his position as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday, was convened against the backdrop of allegations bordering on economic sabotage and corruption within the downstream petroleum sector.

While official details of the engagement were not made public, sources confirmed that Ahmed’s resignation came shortly after the discussion with the president.

The Federal Government is yet to issue a formal statement on the matter or announce a successor to the former NMDPRA chief.

More information is expected to emerge as developments unfold.
