Egypt claim first friendly, beating Nigeria 2 : 1 in preparation for Nation Cup
By Akpo ESCO
Egypt claimed a 2-1 win over Nigeria in Cairo as each nation fine-tuned their preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Star forwards Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen sat out for their respective nations, having only just joined up with the squads from club duty.
In Salah's absence, Egypt hit the front through Mohamoud Saber, who tapped home following excellent work from Zizo.
Paul Onuachu, leading the line for Nigeria in Osimhen's absence, drew a magnificent save from Mohamed El-Shenawy with a glancing header, but the Egypt goalkeeper was culpable when he let Zaidu Sanusi's free-kick in first-half stoppage time spin up off the post to leave Chidozie Awaziem with a simple headed finish.
Mostafa Mohamed settled matters in the 53rd minute, drilling home a low shot after Nigeria's offside trap
