Ebonyi 2027: Group Backs Igariwey for Reps Seat, Vows to Support Re-election

By Judex Okoro

The Afikpo Renaissance Movement has declared that Chief Iduma Igariwey remains the most suitable candidate to represent Afikpo North and Edda Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

The group said that at this critical point in the constituency’s political history, Igariwey deserves maximum support, describing him as experienced and well equipped for legislative responsibilities.

According to the group, the National Assembly is a place where communities send their most capable representatives who can effectively speak for the people, attract development projects, and deliver democratic dividends.

In a statement issued at the weekend, the group’s spokesperson, Chief Michael Agha, acknowledged that the people of Edda have a legitimate claim to the seat but stressed that prevailing circumstances require Igariwey’s return to the House of Representatives to consolidate his achievements.

Agha said Igariwey has exceeded expectations in office, citing his efforts in attracting infrastructure across the constituency, empowering constituents, and promoting political stability.

He added that the group would embark on a grassroots campaign to secure his re election, describing the lawmaker as loyal, visionary, and a committed team player.

The group further argued that experience remains a key asset in legislative work, noting that returning Igariwey would benefit both the constituency and Ebonyi State, especially given his ranking status in the National Assembly.

It dismissed concerns over his previous terms in office, maintaining that legislative service is not limited by tenure and that continuity would enhance effective representation.

The group also called for unity among stakeholders in Afikpo North and Edda, urging political actors to prioritise collective progress over division.

The movement pledged its support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru ahead of the 2027 elections, commending their leadership and performance.

It also appealed to the governor to endorse Igariwey’s bid, describing him as a valuable asset to the state.
