Cross River State Governor, Bassey Edet Otu, has called on Christians to embrace unity and renewed hope as they celebrate Easter, urging them to reflect the enduring message of faith and togetherness that defines the season.

In a goodwill message issued through his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, the governor congratulated Christians in Cross River State and across Nigeria on the commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He described Easter as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolising hope, sacrifice, redemption and the triumph of light over darkness.

Governor Otu noted that the transition from the crucifixion on Good Friday to the resurrection on Easter Sunday conveys a powerful message of renewal, stressing that even in difficult times, faith and perseverance can inspire a new beginning.

“Easter reminds us that after every season of sacrifice comes the dawn of renewal. It is a testament that faith, love and righteousness will always prevail,” he said.

The governor commended Christians for their devotion during the Lenten season and urged them to embody the virtues of humility, forgiveness, compassion and love in their daily interactions.

He further called on Nigerians to use the Easter celebration as an opportunity to strengthen unity, promote peaceful coexistence and work collectively toward national progress.

“As we mark this sacred season, we must rise above division and embrace the values that bind us together as a people. We must also extend support to the vulnerable and promote peace in our communities,” he added.

Governor Otu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies that promote social harmony, economic growth and inclusive development for all residents of Cross River State, regardless of religious or ethnic background.

He urged Christians to celebrate with gratitude and moderation, expressing hope that the season would usher in renewed peace, joy and prosperity for the state and the nation.
