Cross River Police Nab One Over Guest House Robbery Incident

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested one Emmanuel Ekpo, in connection with the robbery attack of a guest house at Mbukpa in Calabar South

Ekpo, 25, who resides at 8 Miles was arrested for his inability to explain why he was within the premises and took to his heels. 

Ekpo was said to be caught with two wraps of substance suspected to be Indian Hemp, when he was searched.

The robbery occurred at a guest house within the Ambo/Mbukpa axis at about 10:19 PM.

A statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, on Saturday said contrary to information circulated on social media that several female occupants were attacked, “armed men scaled through the fence, forced their way into the room occupied by a man and his wife and dispossessed them of two mobile phones and a power bank.”

The Police said Ekpo is, “currently helping police investigation.”

According to the statement, the statement says the Commissioner of Police, Rashid Afegbua “urges members of the public to disregard the sensationalized social media report”, appealed social media handlers to, “always verify from the Police on crime reports before circulation it.
