The Cross River State representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Orok Otu Duke, has distributed essential food items to key institutions and individuals across the state.
The exercise, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, aimed to provide festive season support to some public organizations serving in the state.
The distributed items included bags of rice and vegetable oil, with beneficiaries including the offices of the state governor, Speaker of the 10th State House of Assembly, Chief Judge, Commissioner of Police, Paramount rulers of the 18 LGAs and other security formations across the state.
A total of 420 bags of rice and 420 bottles of vegetable oil were distributed to institutions such as the Nigerian Army, Navy, Airforce, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
Speaking to Newsmen, Dr. Duke stated that the outreach was a seasonal gesture of goodwill and support, consistent with the NDDC's mandate to foster development and improve welfare in the Niger Delta region. He reaffirmed the Commission's commitment to bettering livelihoods through people-oriented policies and programs.
Recipients, including heads of security formations and traditional rulers, expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as a significant contribution to their welfare.
