Cross River NDC Adopts Five Resolutions Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Cross River State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the adoption of five strategic resolutions aimed at repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the State Secretary of the party, Hon. Ekup Arong, the resolutions were adopted during the State Working Committee (SWC) meeting held at the party's state secretariat in Calabar.

The statement said the meeting was presided over by the State Chairman, Mr. Akpama Goddie Achibong, and attended by 19 members of the 43-member committee, which constituted the required quorum in line with Article 15, Section 3 of the party's constitution.

It added that the Deputy State Chairman, Prince Henry Obok, members of the State Executive, ex-officio members and the three state vice chairmen were also in attendance.

According to the statement, the SWC resolved to immediately open a state party account to ensure transparent and accountable management of party finances in line with the party's constitution.

It also approved the registration and integration of support groups willing to participate in the party's 2027 campaigns in Cross River State, the creation of official email addresses and verified social media platforms for the state chapter, and the appointment of state-wide coordinators for polling unit structures across the state's 196 wards to strengthen grassroots mobilisation.

The statement further said the committee unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the State Working Committee led by Achibong in recognition of what it described as its commitment to unity, discipline and progressive leadership.

It quoted Achibong as thanking members for their commitment and assuring them that the SWC would continue to provide inclusive, transparent and constitutionally guided leadership while urging members to begin mobilisation in their respective local government areas and wards.

The statement also quoted the Deputy State Chairman, Prince Henry Obok, as describing the resolutions as a clear indication of the party's readiness for the 2027 elections, while the State Secretary, Arong, said implementation of the decisions would commence immediately with another SWC meeting to be held in the coming weeks.

According to the statement, the committee reaffirmed its loyalty to the National Executive Committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress and pledged the support of the Cross River State chapter to the vision and ideals of the party.
