Cross River Govt Releases 2026/2027, 2027/2028 School Calendar For Public, Private Schools
The Cross River State Government has released the approved academic calendar for public and private schools in the state for the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 sessions.
The calendar, signed by the Director of Schools, Mrs. Theresa Iyozo Inaku, on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, directs all schools in the state to adhere strictly to the dates, warning that violation will attract sanctions.
Details of the calendar says that for the 2026/2027 Academic Session, first term, Schools will resume on Monday, 14th September 2026 and close on Friday, 4th December 2026. The term will run for 12 weeks of academic activities.
The holiday will run from Saturday, 5th December 2026 to Sunday, 10th January 2027 — a break of 5 weeks.
For the Second Term, Resumption is Monday, 11th January 2027 and closing is Thursday, 25th March 2027. This term will span 11 weeks.
Easter holiday is scheduled for Friday, 26th March 2027 to Sunday, 11th April 2027*— 2 weeks.
Third Term, begins Monday, 12th April 2027 and ends Friday, 9th July 2027. It will run for 13 weeks.
The long vacation will be from Saturday, 10th July 2027 to Sunday, 5th September 2027* — 8 weeks.
2027/2028 academic new session will commence on Monday, 6th September 2027 and end on Friday, 3rd December 2027.
It will run for 13 weeks, followed by a 5-week holiday from Saturday, 4th December 2027 to Sunday, 9th January 2028.
The Ministry stated that all national public holidays will be observed, including other dates that may be announced by both the Cross River State and Federal Government during the period.
It also directed that boarding students are to report to their schools on the Sunday preceding each term’s resumption date.
The government warned that all public and private schools must adhere strictly to this School Calendar as failure to do so will attract serious sanctions.
Parents, school proprietors and administrators were also urged to take note and plan ahead in line with the approved dates.
