C'River:Auto Crash Claims Two UNICAL Convocation Travellers from Bekwarra

A Toyota Sienna bus conveying passengers from Bekwarra to Calabar was involved in a fatal road accident on Thursday night, leaving two persons dead and several others injured.
The deceased have been identified as Ajor Gloria and Engineer Godwin Benjamin, who was reportedly travelling to Calabar to participate in activities marking the 38th Convocation Ceremony of the University of Calabar.
Sources said the vehicle was conveying students and their family members heading for the convocation when the crash occurred along the Ogoja Calabar road, abruptly ending what was expected to be a joyful trip.
Emergency responders were said to have arrived promptly at the scene, evacuating the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. However, details on the number of injured persons and the severity of their conditions were still unclear as of press time.
Authorities are yet to officially disclose the circumstances surrounding the accident, while investigations are expected to determine the cause of the crash.
The incident has thrown families and members of the university community into mourning, with many expressing shock and grief over the loss of lives ahead of the convocation ceremony.
Condolences have continued to pour in for the bereaved families, while prayers are being offered for the speedy recovery of those currently receiving medical attention.
