C'River Sanitation Monitoring Team Scores Akpabuyo LGA High for October 2025 Statewide Exercise

 Cross River Commissioner for Environment and Leader of the statewide sanitation monitoring team, Hon. (Obol) Moses Osogi, has scored residents of Akpabuyo local government area high for the level of compliance recorded in the area during the October 2025, monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

The Commissioner, who monitored the exercise in the area alongside the Executive Chairman of Akpabuyo Local Government Council, Hon. Effiom Bassey Effiong, noted that the impressive turnout reflected the growing awareness among residents on the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment. “Sanitation is now a statewide culture. Everyone is properly informed that the last Saturday of every month is dedicated to environmental sanitation,” Hon. Osogi emphasised.

  The excited Commissioner commended residents of Akpabuyo for their active participation and urged Council Chairmen in the state to emulate the Akpabuyo local government Chairman.

 He vowed to reward the local government Council on his next visit, if the same level of enthusiasm is sustained in subsequent exercise.

In his remarks, Hon. Effiom Bassey Effiong, Executive Chairman of Akpabuyo Local Government Council, reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the sanitation culture across communities in the area. He expressed delight at the high level of community participation, noting that council officials, youth groups, and residents worked collectively to ensure a successful exercise. “The involvement of our council officials and youths shows true commitment to environmental health. We will continue to mobilize our people for even greater compliance in the future, ”Effiong assured.

  Respondents who spoke with _Beagle News Correspondent,_ during the exercise lauded the present administration for sustaining the monthly sanitation initiative.

  Joy Bassey, a resident, described the programme as a welcomed policy towards ensuring a cleaner environment, while Mr. Paul Etim said it was the civic duty of every citizen to keep their surroundings clean.

 During the exercise, a few defaulters were apprehended for violating the sanitation laws and handed over to the relevant authorities for prosecution. Meanwhile, residents were visibly engaged in clearing drains, sweeping and clearing grasses around their surroundings.

The sanitation exercise is steadily reflecting the State Government’s continued effort to promote environmental cleanliness and public health across the Eighteen Local Government Areas of the state. 

  Last Month, the Environment Boss, supervised the exercise in Calabar, while the SSA to the Governor on Environment, Mr. Magnus Ntui, monitored the exercise at Akamkpa LGA silmoutanously as was widely reported.

This Month, the Hon Commissioner was joined by the Chairman of Akpabuyo LGA, Hon Effiom Bassey Effiong, to visit different parts of the Local Government to evaluate, inform, educate and sensitize residents of Akpabuyo LGA about the monthly sanitation exercise. 

 Places visited include, the famous Trade by Barter Market/Slave Trade Beach, Ikot Edem Odo, Ikot Nakanda, etc.
