C’River 2027: Ibok Unveils Coalition For Otu, Odey, Promises Total Victory

By Judex OKORO

A political support group, United Coalition Movement for Prince Otu and Odey (UCMPOO), has been launched in Cross River to mobilise support for Gov. Bassey Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The group, led by its Director-General, Mr Austine Ibok, described UCMPOO as a broad-based political vehicle aimed at bringing together members of opposition parties and former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), maintaining that victory for the duo of Otu and Odey is total.

Ibok, in a statement issued on Sunday, said the group’s mandate included promoting political reconciliation and integrating members who might feel sidelined, unheard, or dissatisfied within the political space.

He said UCMPOO would provide a platform through which the governor could engage with people across the state and encourage dialogue among political stakeholders.

“Our mandate is simple: to galvanise opposition members, promote political reconciliation and integration of old APC members, while creating a trusted platform through which the governor can reach out to those who may feel sidelined, unheard or dissatisfied,” he said.

According to him, the movement will build bridges and promote reconciliation among people across the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Ibok said the group’s activities would be anchored on the objective of fostering unity around what it described as a common purpose ahead of the 2027 election.

He said the movement would work toward achieving its objectives under the slogan: “United in Purpose, One Voice, One Victory.”

The director-general reaffirmed the group’s adoption of Otu and Odey for the 2027 governorship election.
