THE Nigerian Army has announced plans to establish an Army Recruitment and Training Institute along the strategic Amasiri/Edda in Afkkpo North and Edda axis of Ebonyi state.

Major General M.A. Abdulahi, who led a high-powered delegation from the Nigerian Army, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local government area, Mr. Timothy Nwancho at the weekend 

Abdullahi said the project will not only boost security but also catalyse socioeconomic and infrastructural development in the area, transform the lives of residents and foster a more prosperous future. 

He commended the council chairman for the warm reception accorded to his team, assuring that the military high Command is poised to commence the Institute's activities as soon as possible.

Earlier, Chairman of Afikpo LGA, Mr.

 Timothy Nwanchi, commended the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor of Ebonyi State, RFrancis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for their visionary leadership and people-centered initiatives.

He noted that the establishment of the Army Recruitment and Training Institute marks a new chapter in the history of Afikpo local government area, highlighting the enormous benefits, including enhanced security, creation of opportunities for socio-economic development, and a brighter future in the relationship between the Nigerian Army and the Local Communities. 

Signatories present during the courtesy visit include the Secretary to the LGA, Hon. Dame Priscilla Alu Idam; the Chief of Staff to the Council Chairman, Apostle Uduma Peter Agha, councilors, supervisors and Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Madukibe Ewa.
