BREAKING: Governor Douye Diri and 23 Bayelsa lawmakers Resign From PDP
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, along with 23 members of the Bayelsa state House of Assembly, has resigned from the PDP.
The Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, disclosed this development.
Sources indicate an imminent formal defection to the APC, following recent political shifts in the region.
This is coming after Peter Mba of Enugu state defected to APC yesterday.
Out of the 6 South-South states, Cross River, Edo, Akwa Ibom and Delta states are APC governed states. With Governor Diri's resignation from the PDP, Rivers state will be the only state in South-South Nigeria left in the PDP.
Political pundits have already declared that with Governor Diri's resignation, he is on his way to the ruling All Progressives Congress while predicting that Sim Fubara of Rivers state will be the next.
