BREAKING: Clearlake Takes Over Full Ownership of Chelsea FC

Chelsea Football Club have officially confirmed a major change in its ownership structure.

In a statement released by the club, Clearlake Capital will acquire the shares of both Todd Boehly and Mark Walter, giving the American investment firm full control of the Blues.

As part of the deal, Boehly will also step down from his role as Chairman of the club.

The club however moved quickly to allay fears, insisting there will be no changes to Chelsea’s day-to-day operations, leadership or overall long-term strategy.

It was also confirmed that Hansjörg Wyss will remain as an important stakeholder in the club.

Clearlake, in its statement, said its focus remains on improving infrastructure, sporting performance, player development and delivering long-term success on and off the pitch.

Reacting to the development, Boehly described his time as Chairman as an honour, thanking the Premier League, club staff, players, coaches and the Chelsea supporters for their support throughout his tenure.

In response, Clearlake co-founders Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano thanked Boehly for his immense contribution to the club, stating that he will always remain part of Chelsea’s story and family.
