The University of Calabar International Demonstration Nursery and Primary School came alive with colour, energy and competitive spirit as pupils showcased their talents at the 34th Inter House Sports Competition held at the Abraham Ordia Stadium.

At the end of a thrilling contest, Blue House emerged overall champions, outpacing rivals with a dominant display, while Green House settled for second place and Yellow House finished third.

Headteacher, John Edet, described sports as a critical pillar of holistic education, stressing that the event goes beyond competition to build discipline, teamwork and leadership among pupils.

He noted that weeks of preparation reflected the resilience and commitment of the children, urging all participants to uphold sportsmanship.

Representing the governing board chairman, Stella Esuabanga, Board Secretary Eme Orok Amanso highlighted the need to balance academics with recreation, reaffirming the board’s commitment to elevating the school’s standards.

In his remarks, PTA Chairman Richard Akpanukpong charged pupils to remain focused and determined, assuring that exceptional performances would be rewarded.

Adding a forward looking touch, the school’s first alumni professor, Affiong Henry, encouraged pupils to excel both in the classroom and on the field. She disclosed plans for the school’s upcoming golden jubilee, including special events and projects to further enhance development.

The competition blended speed, strength and school pride, leaving spectators entertained and reaffirming the role of sports in shaping well rounded pupils.
