APC Pledges Orderly, Credible Ward, LG Congresses in Cross River

Committees supervising the ward and local government congresses of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State have assured members of a peaceful, transparent and credible process.
The Chairman of the Local Government and Ward Congress Committee, Samuel Yanap, gave the assurance while monitoring the caption exercise in Calabar. He said the committee has been working closely with the state executive and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination ahead of the exercise.
According to Yanap, the congress is a vital step in consolidating the party’s grassroots structure and strengthening internal democracy. He called on members to conduct themselves in a law abiding manner and place the unity of the party above personal interests.
“We are determined to deliver peaceful and transparent congresses. I urge our members to remain united and supportive of the party. Our collective goal is to advance development in the state and the nation,” he said.
He added that the party has established internal channels for resolving disputes, noting that any grievances arising from the exercise would be addressed through laid down procedures.
Secretary of the Appeal Committee, Paul Domseng, confirmed that the committee was fully operational and ready to receive petitions from aggrieved aspirants or members.
Chairman of the Appeal Committee, Honourable Prince Ademola Adetokunbo, stated that the panel was constituted by the party’s national leadership to ensure fairness and compliance with party guidelines. He emphasized that due process and impartiality would guide the committee’s work.
Adetokunbo who is also a senior special adviser to President Tinubu commended Governor Bassey Edet Otu for promoting unity within the party and maintaining a stable political atmosphere in the state.
Similarly, Chairman of the Screening Appeal Committee, Dr Ike Ukwe, expressed optimism that the exercise would proceed smoothly. He said the committee stands ready to offer fair hearing to anyone with genuine concerns.
“The party has created equal opportunities for all members. Where there are concerns, we are here to ensure justice and fairness,” Ukwe said.
State APC Chairman, Ntufam Ekum Ojogu, assured that adequate security arrangements had been put in place across the 18 local government areas to safeguard the process.
“We have engaged relevant security agencies to maintain order. We are confident the congresses will be successful,” he stated.
The ward and local government congresses are expected to take place across Cross River State under the supervision of party officials and security personnel.
