APC, ADC, LP, PRP, SDP, Four Others Receive INEC Access Codes for 2027 Nominations
Nine registered political parties have obtained access codes from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload the details of their candidates for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
The development was confirmed on Tuesday in Abuja by INEC National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity, Mohammed Haruna.
Haruna disclosed that as of the close of business on Monday, nine political parties had collected the codes required to access the commission's online candidate nomination portal.
The parties are Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
He explained that political parties are expected to visit the commission to obtain the access codes, stressing that INEC will not deliver them to party offices. He added that anyone collecting a code on behalf of a political party must present an official authorisation letter from the party's leadership.
Haruna also reminded political parties to comply with the commission's candidate nomination guidelines, noting that party officials had already received training on the nomination process.
He urged parties to avoid waiting until the final day before submitting their nomination forms online, despite INEC extending the submission deadline from the close of work to midnight on the last day.
According to him, parties that delay submissions until the deadline do so at their own risk and should not hold the commission responsible for any difficulties encountered.
INEC has scheduled June 27 to July 11 for the online submission of nomination forms for presidential and National Assembly candidates through its designated portal.
The commission also fixed July 18 to August 8 for the submission of nomination forms for governorship and State House of Assembly candidates, in line with its timetable for the 2027 general elections.
