AKWA IBOM 2027: Labour Party's Michael Bush Unveils 8-point Agenda, Promises 1000 Low-cost Houses Per LGA, Instant Pension Payment

 The Labour Party Governorship Candidate for Akwa Ibom State in the 2027 general elections, Akparawa Michael BUSH, has rolled out a sweeping development blueprint for the State, pledging massive housing, welfare for the elderly, economic relief, and 24-hour electricity when elected.

Akparawa BUSH disclosed this while on a live rado programme, LP Road to 2027, on XL 106.9 FM, Uyo. 

The LP governorship candidate said his administration will be people-centred and focused on “serving all strata of people in the State” irrespective of background, age, or physical ability.

Housing, Welfare and Workers’ Welfare Top Agenda. 

The governorship candidate made five key promises central to his campaign:

1. Mass Housing: “We will build low-cost 1000 housing units in every LGA across Akwa Ibom State. Shelter is a right, not a privilege,” he said.

2. Elderly Care: Akparawa BUSH promised to establish elderly people’s Education, Job and Relaxation Centres in the state to engage senior citizens productively and give them dignity in retirement.

3. Project Continuity: He assured that his government will complete all ongoing projects embarked upon by his predecessor to avoid waste of public funds.

4. Instant Pension and Gratuity: Retirees will get their gratuity and pension paid on the day of retirement, he pledged, adding that his government will insulate citizens from over-taxation.

5. Economic Relief: Citing current economic hardship, the Labour Party governorship candidate said his government will subsidize many facets of the economy to cushion the effect on citizens.

Security, Power and Inclusion

The veteran broadcaster journalist cum politician also committed to working closely with Village Heads, Clan Heads, Paramount Rulers, Village Council Chairmen and Village Youth Presidents to strengthen community-based security watch across the 31 LGAs.

On power, he promised 24-hour electricity supply to Akwa Ibom people and said he will consult stakeholders to bring an additional power generating plant to the state.

He further emphasized inclusion, stating that persons living with disabilities will have “a sense of belonging” in his government through deliberate policies and appointments.

The eight-key Agenda

The Labour Party governorship candidate summarized his manifesto into what he called Akwa Ibom as acronym:

1. Access

2. Knowledge

3. Wealth (plus waste to wealth)

4. ⁠Advancement

5. Industrialization

6. Business

7. ⁠Opportunities 

8. Manpower 

According to him, the agenda is designed to drive jobs, skills, clean communities, and private sector growth.

“Akwa Ibom people deserve a government that listens, delivers, and appreciates its citizens. That is the kind of leadership I am offering in 2027,” Akparawa BUSH concluded.

The 2027 general elections are scheduled to hold in February.
