As consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum, the campaign train of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Cross River Central Senatorial District, Oden Ewa, has berthed in Ekori community, Yakurr Local Government Area, where he donated N10 million and awarded contracts for the construction of three boreholes and the renovation of a village square.
Speaking during the visit, Ewa said the projects were part of efforts to improve access to clean drinking water, restore community facilities and promote development in the area.
The APC senatorial candidate said the renovation of the Ernest Kizito Attah Square, a landmark facility in the community, would restore its status as a centre for communal gatherings, cultural celebrations and other important social activities.
He added that the construction of three boreholes across the community's three council wards would address the perennial challenge of access to clean and potable water, provide relief to households and improve residents' overall wellbeing.
"For the people of Ekori, this visit signifies renewed hope, stronger partnership and the prospect of meaningful development. Going forward, our team will continue to engage the community, promote the welfare of the people and empower youths through various skills acquisition programmes currently being implemented by the Oden Ewa Foundation," he stated.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, Chief Yibala Inyang, said the massive turnout of party faithful to welcome Ewa demonstrated the level of support, preparedness and commitment to the APC's political aspirations ahead of the 2027 elections.
He expressed confidence that the three Ekori council wards would deliver electoral victories for the APC candidates at all levels, from the State House of Assembly to the presidency.
"What happened at Ekori was just a small sample of the massive political structure, unity and grassroots support available to Oden Ewa across the local government area and the wider senatorial district. When the campaigns fully kick off, we shall show our strength," he said.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Senatorial Campaign Council, Nkpang Obeten, Esq., urged grassroots supporters, ward leaders and party loyalists to unite behind the campaign structure ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Obeten said the campaign would focus on infrastructure development, youth empowerment and improved socioeconomic welfare. He also highlighted Ewa's experience in public administration and outlined his legislative and policy vision for the development of Cross River Central Senatorial District.
