2 UNICAL Students Suspended for One Academic Session Over Exam Malpractice

The Senate of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended two students of the Faculty of Pharmacy for one academic session for examination misconduct.

The affected students are Egbo Juliet Nmesoma and Enagu Derek Reseokim.

The decision was reached at the 257th Senate meeting of the institution held on 23rd July, 2026, following their conviction for being in possession of unauthorized materials during the PHM 441: Experimental Pharmacology examination conducted on 16th February, 2026.

The Senate, in its verdict, also ordered the outright cancellation of their results for PHM 441.

According to the directive, the suspension will take effect from the 2026/2027 academic session, while the students are expected to resume their academic activities in the 2027/2028 academic session.

The University of Calabar has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice and other forms of academic dishonesty, warning students to adhere strictly to examination rules and regulations.
