17 Lawmakers Defect from ADC to NDC in House of Representatives

Seventeen members of the House of Representatives have officially defected from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

The notices of defection were announced during Tuesday’s plenary session by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu.

The lawmakers formally declared their decision to leave the ADC and join the NDC, a move expected to alter the political balance within the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

No official reasons were provided for the defections during the plenary session.

The latest political realignment is seen as part of ongoing manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 general elections.
