Obanliku Council Goes Tough On Drug Abuse, Peddlers

 Obanliku local government area of Cross River is set to enact bye-law that would make the activities of drug peddlers and drug abuse a difficult one.

Other two laws are set for public hearing on Saturday at the council’s headquarters.

According to a release by Jane Odey, Director/Clerk of the Legislative Assembly, the publix is expected to submit memoranda on the proposed bye-laws on or before Thursday.

Another of the bye-law seek to change the name of the foremost Obudu Ranch Resort.

According to the release, the bills are: "A bye-law to provide for change of name of Obudu Ranch Resort to Obanliku Ranch Resort and related matters.

"A bye-law to establish Sankwala Urban Development Authority and related matters in Obanliku Local aovernment Area.

"Also, a bye-law for the prohibition of Illicit drugs peddling, abuse and 

tafficking in Obanliku local government area."

NAN reports that activities of drug peddlers and drug abuse have been on the rise in Cross River.

This has made the state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to initiate series of drug campaigns to arrest the menace.
