Sports Minister Moves To Upgrade Sports Facilities

As part of efforts to make sports facilities more functional,the Sports Minister, Senator John Owan-Enoh has promised to leverage his engagements with the private sector to attract investments that would lead to upgrade of sports facilities.
Enoh said during an inspection of Ikom Township stadium in Cross River State, weekend that the Federal Government is currently undertaking the maintenance of sports facilities in the face of enomous challenges promising to also visit the Ogoja and Calabar stadia to ascertain first hand the state of facilities.
"I leave here with very positive impressions, very determined and driven to see what the Federal Ministry of sports Development can cause to happen here. My hope is that at the end of my tenure as Minister of Sports Development something significantly different would have happened to sports in our country",he said.
Ikom Sports Stadium
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the state of facilities on ground and the response of citizens to weekend sports activities in the stadium.
I am impressed with the turn out of men and women, boys and girls involved in different kinds of sporting activities even if it is to keep fit. Fitness is one of the components that the Ministry of Sports Development would like to focus on". the Minister noted.
Senator Enoh stated that a phsically fit and mentally alert population is a productive one and lauded the former governor, Senator Liyel Imoke for the vision of building the Ikom and Ogoja stadia
