RIVERS STATE ELDERS COUNCIL BERATE ODILI FOR DISPARAGING WIKE

By Our Reporter

The Rivers State Elders Council has strongly criticised former Governor Peter Odili for making disparaging remarks about Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over Wike’s handling of Rivers State politics.

In a statement signed by 45 prominent elders, including Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, Emmanuel Anyanwu, and Senator Magnus Abe, the council condemned the recent comments made by Odili during a Christmas carol service.

According to Vanguard, Odili had accused Wike of attempting to turn Rivers State into his private estate, a statement deemed inappropriate by the elders.

The Rivers State Elders Council argued that such comments were not only disrespectful but also lacked the necessary courage to address the real issues behind Wike’s leadership.

They pointed out that despite their political differences, Wike had always shown respect for Dr. Odili.

The council further criticized Odili for making these remarks in an attempt to please the current Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who was the special guest at the event.

The council advised the concerned elders to counsel Odili to be more careful with his public statements and to refrain from further stoking political tensions.

They also urged Dr. Odili and his allies to leave Wike alone and focus on their political manipulations without dragging the former governor into the fray.
