In spite disquiet within some quarters of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the inclusion of Chief Nyesom Wike, in the ministerial list submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly, some members of the party and Governor Siminalayi Fubara have commended the immediate past state governor’s nomination.

In a statement, former chief of staff to former governor Chibuike Amaechi, Chief Tony Okocha, described Wike’s nomination as reward for APC’s victory in Rivers State.

This was even as the leadership of the party’s state chapter has not made its position clear on the issue.

Okocha, who is a member of the dissolved Amalgamated Bola Tinubu Campaign Council, Rivers State, noted that, “with Wike as minister the Renewed Hope family of APC, is rest assured of a new sense of belonging, and a rebirth of our great party in our dear state.”

According to the group, Wike’s nomination was a true reflection of his hard work and uncommon commitment to the victory of APC during the presidential poll that led to the emergence of Tinubu as President.

The group while further expressing joy described Wike as a hero of National politics, and champion of integrity and justice, with the pedigree of excellence and hard work, adding the nomination of Wike as a minister will further strengthen the APC in Rivers State.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has also commended the inclusion of his immediate predecessor, Chief Wike, in the ministerial list.

Describing Wike as “our indefatigable leader and democrat,” Fubara congratulated the former on his “well deserved nomination as minister designate,” adding that his (Wike) “commitment to the unity and advancement of our dear country propelled your push for equity, justice and fairness. We believe that you will continue to make impact by joining the team of great leaders to change our national narratives for the good of humanity.”
