REMAKING OF CALABAR GOLF CLUB

The Calabar Golf Club is currently witnessing an uptick among its facilities in terms of rehabilitation of the playing course ,the clubhouse, and other supporting facilities.
The club, which previously had a recurring challenge with trespassers converting the course to a thoroughfare, is being fenced completely to address the problem.
Simultaneously, a new piping system with sprinklers are being installed in the course to handle water reticulation inorder to keep the fairway (playing arena) green and suitable for playing all year round.
Also, a new gatehouse and car parking lot are being constructed to give the entry point of the club a facelift in line with the tourism and sports development policy of the state government.
Moreso, the clubhouse is undergoing renovation to bring it up to global standards to cater for golfers as well as attract national and international tournaments to the state.
Golf is recognized globally as an adjunct of tourism and business; attracting top business leaders, investors, international travelers, technocrats etc.
The Ongoing massive rehabilitation happening at the Calabar Golf Club is traceable to intervention of the state governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, who approved and released funds for the ongoing projects.
Speaking to reporters, the Captain of the Calabar Golf Club, Major General Ahmed Sabo (rtd), expressed gratitude to the governor for the unprecedented support as well as keeping his promise of intervening in the turnaround of the club facilities.
According to Sabo, the Calabar Gulf Club will definitely be wearing a new look going forward.
Club Vice Captain, Ukel Agba, said this intervention by the state government has positioned the club to serve as an important step on the tourism circuit of the state, therefore, complimenting it's acclaimed reputation as Nigeria's tourist destination.
The famous Calabar Golf Club has been in existence since 1991 to date.
