PREAS RELEASE: OGOJA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN ADVOCATES MEASURES TO ELIMINATE MALARIA SCOURGE
THE Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Hon Christopher Agbeh, has advocated fervent measures to eliminate the scourge of Malaria in Nigeria as the disease kills in thousands each year.
The Chairman, who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Idi Yakubu, in IMPACT ADVOCACY sensitization on Malaria eradication and Immunization adherence organized by Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the Ministry of Health explained that Malaria recorded a death toll of about 2000 people in the country stressing that the rate should not be acceptable rather aggressive measures should be taken to address the pandemic.
He emphasised that frantic efforts is required to sensitize pregnant women and children of the importance of immunization as it is a life saving measure.
Hon. Yakuku assured the Cross River State Primary Health Development Agency and the State Ministry of Health of Ogoja Local Government Council's continuous support for all health related programmes.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Programme Manager of IMPACT, Mr. Ifere Obeten informed that they Agency was on a one day Advocacy to sensitize, enlighten and educate the people through Wards Development Committee Heads who are the focal point in coverage of the Agency's activities.
Mr Obeten assured that IMPACT is ready to carry out activities that will be out to remedy the people from the hazards, pointing out that they have identified many primary Healthcare facilities across the State to ease their respective problems.
The Director of Primary Healthcare Mr Patrick Ubruku in Charge of Ogoja Local Government area expressed appreciation for IMPACT ADVOCACY to be in Ogoja and he felicitates with the Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council Hon Christopher Agbeh who in his short period in office has demonstrated his willingness to partner with all Health Agencies to realize their objectives.
In attendance were the Vice Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Council, Hon. Egbung Obama Egbung, State Team; Mrs Kase Eyong, Mrs Nsa Ekpenyong, all Directors of Primary Healthcare in the Northern Senatorial District as well as all Supervisors of Health and all Ward Development Committees.
