Otu's Aide Lauds Amendment Of Electoral Law

The Special Assistant to Gov. Bassey Otu on All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups matter, Mr Clement Asanye has commended the governor for his prompt assent to the amended state electoral law.

He said the prompt response will deepen democracy at the grassroot level and as well ensure early conduct of the elections into the third tier of government in the state.

In a statement made available to newsmen, Asanye pointed out that Otu's action has against demonstrated his "People First Mantra" of his administration.

"We know as a fact that your administration possesses what will rightfully take the People First Governance innovation, development and empowerment to the nooks and crannies of the grassroots level of government.

"We profoundly appreciate you for elevating the third-tier governance and leading our dear state to a brighter and harmonised future.

"Your focus on ensuring that local administrations are led by elected representatives truly reflects your avowed dedication to deepening our democracy and bringing governance closer to the people and communities. 

"This renewed move will undoubtedly strengthen the structures of our Local Governments, and guarantee service to the people, just as you promised," he stated.

The aide promised a robust support for all the party's candidates for the council poll across the state.

According to him, "We anticipate follow-up actions from our ever-ready electoral umpire, we irrevocably assure you of the highest decorum and compliance expected from our office, the APC support groups and our members.

"We understand the positive impact this election will bring by igniting voices of representation as rural leaders champion local needs in line with the People First Mantra.

"This progress requires both vision and implementation, of which you have shown strength in both."
