The Special Assistant to Governor Bassey Otu on All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups Matters, Prince Clement Asanye, restated that the ban on no campaigns ahead of local government is still in force to avoid hitting the polity.

A few days back, the State APC chairman, Alphonsus Eba, Esq, had banned all forms of political gatherings among party members with regard to choosing next council chairman of councillors until State Independent Electoral Commission releases election time table.

Supporting the move, Asanye had, in a press statement dated September 28, 2024, directed that no groups or committees in the party, including its members or affiliate groups, should engage in any meeting, campaign, rally, or activity geared towards promoting or endorsing any aspirant for the forthcoming Local Government elections.

The statement read in part: "The Office of the Special Assistant to Governor of Cross River State on APC Support Groups Matters wishes to reiterate this critical directive to all APC support groups and their members for strict compliance.

"This instruction aligns with our great party's restriction to maintaining law and order and ensuring a fair, transparent, and inclusive democratic process in Cross River State.

"This decision is to avoid excessive pressure on the polity while awaiting the state's electoral guidelines from the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) and is intended to ensure that the electoral process is conducted with the utmost decorum and respect for all.

"We encourage all support groups leaders and members to continue their support for thestate electoral body and the administration's of Our Leader, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State (The People FIRST GOVERNOR) efforts in developing our state and contributing positively to the policies and programmes of the government.

"Together, we can ensure a peaceful and progressive electoral process that reflects the true will of the People First Government."
