NUC Visits UNICAL, Confident Of Varsity Meeting Accreditation Requirements

The National Universities Commission's accreditation team has expressed confidence in the University of Calabar (UNICAL) to meet the necessary requirements for accreditation for some yet-to-be accredited programmes in the institution.
Speaking during an interactive session at the conference room of UNICAL's Vice Chancellor, Monday, the team leader, Prof. Uka stated that his team was on an inspection visit to the University to assess its responsiveness to accreditation requirements for some of the University's yet-to-be accredited programmes.
Expressing confidence in the varsity's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi's capabilities, Prof. Uka quipped that the Vice Chancellor's strides during her stint as NUC focal person for accreditation stands the University in good stead to meet all standards for accreditation.
The accreditation committee sought the support of the Vice Chancellor and her management team in the course of their job, while hoping for the eventual accreditation for programmes under review for the betterment of the University.
In her response, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi remarked appealed for due diligence as the accreditation team carries out its review exercise. She encouraged the team to be thorough in their assessment of programmes and facilities so as to properly advice management, while also giving proper information to NUC, which, she maintained, would better the lots of the University of Calabar to take its pride of place in the comity of Nigerian Universities.
