Nollywood Filmmakers Set to Promote Igbo Culture, Unveil Cinema Project in Ebonyi

Nollywood Filmmakers have unveiled Igbo cinema and socio-cultural heritage and industry within the South East geo-political zone.
The event held recently in Abakaliki was attended by renowned filmmakers and other practitioners including Pete Edochie, Patience Ozokwor, Chinwetala Agu, Nkem Owo, Kanayo O. Kanayo, and Cha-Cha Eke.
Speaking at the event, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state, described the occasion as a “welcome development” aimed at promoting the identity of the people, especially the Igbos."
Nwifuru, represented by the Deputy Governor, Patricia Obila, pledged N15 million support to the filmmaking project in Ebonyi.
Obila said Ebonyi state is determined to developing the entertainment industry and promoting the people's heritage.
“Our culture is our heritage, which includes our language and clothing among others. My government is tagged ‘People’s Chatter of Needs.’ Besides, we are ready to support projects aimed at promoting our image as a state and Igbo people.
