NEC Appoints C' River Gov Otu as Chairman of Comittee on National Electrification Project as Commissioner For Power Hails Appointment

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has been appointed as chairman of National Electrification Committee.
Otu's appointment is contained in resolutions reached at after 146th meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) held on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Present at the meeting were other state governors and key economic sector officials.
The meeting, presided over by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, took place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
One of the major resolutions reached at the meeting was the constitution of the Committee on National Electrification, with Governor Bassey Edet Otu appointed to serve as its Chairman.
The committee is expected to work towards deepening States’ engagements within the Electricity Reform Act 2023 and the National Electrification Strategy and Implementation plan.
Hailing the appointment, the Cross River state commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Prince Eka Williams, has congratulated Senator Bassey Otu on his appointment.
Williams described the appointment as the reward for hard work, adding that the Governor has a track record of finishing well and strong.
"Certainly, Cross River and Nigeria at large will benefit from this. I Call for support from industry players."
