MWAN Treats More Than  200 In Medical Outreach At 305 Infantry Brigade To Mark 2024 IWD.

More than two hundred Air force Officers and personnel and their families have benefited from a medical outreach sponsored by the Cross River Branch of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria in collaboration with the Air force Wives Association as part of activities to mark this year's International Women day in Calabar.

The outreach which was held at the 305 Special Mobility Group, Medical Center, Calabar, screened Officers and personnel of the Airforce of breast cancer, cervical cancer including prostrate cancer and general consultation.

Addressing the Force personnel, the Leader of the team and President of MWAN Cross River branch, Dr Minika Hogan Okon explained that the choice of screening for these terminal diseases was because early detection can save lives while most of the ailments are curable.

Dr Okon further revealed that cases detected during the screening are treated at the medical center while serious ones were referred to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, or Asukpo Diagnostic Center, both in Calabar, for proper diagnosis and treatment.

According to her, men were included in the 2024 outreach in response to the plea of their wives, " Normally our yearly screening focuses on women but the women (wives) pleaded that their spouses, fathers and brothers should be part of the screening exercise."

She used the opportunity to Solicit for more partnership and sponsorship from government, philanthropic organizations as well as Civil societies to enable the Medical Women Association of Nigeria to touch more lives.

Some Repondents who spoke to Beagle News thanked the association for extending a hand of fellowship to them.
